The events of 2020 have impacted humanity in deep and transformative ways, including what we, as shoppers, value. With so much having changed, retailers need a new playbook for customer experience and operational excellence in 2021.

In this Immersion Workshop, we will discuss new shopper imperatives retailers and brands need to rebuild customer experiences around. Based on insights from over 100,000 shoppers, Incisiv will share perspective and drive a roundtable conversation around these three key shopper expectations::

  • Convenience Redefined: Having experienced new digital experiences (such as Curbside Pick-Up), convenience is no longer just about speed of delivery for shoppers. They demand new experiences that offer them certainty, flexibility and the ability to plan ahead.
  • The New Customer Experience Table-Stakes: Conditioned by circumstances (such as the constant reminder of health risks) or less than ideal experiences (such as a shortage of essentials such as toilet paper), shoppers will put safety, trust and transparency above all else in 2021.
  • Alone, Together: Between social distancing norms, contactless experiences, and a shift to largely transactional shopping, the "joy of retail" seems lost. Shoppers want retailers to make interactions with them more human, and offer new avenues and experiences that entertain and delight.

Incisiv's Immersion Workshops foster the sort of community, conversation and candor typically found on the sidelines of industry events and conferences. During this Immersion Workshop, attendees will:

  • Learn about new shopper behaviors and customer experience imperatives. Incisiv will present insights from its study of over 100,000 US shoppers.
  • Identify shopper imperatives that they relate with most, and share with the group one related customer experience initiative they are focused on in 2021.
  • Describe the biggest challenge they currently face, or anticipate facing, for successful execution of their initiative; and share their perspective and insights on the challenges shared by others.
